Today's Objective: Students will be able to discuss how the love of battle and their laws influenced the Germans.
During the next 3-4 weeks we will be dealing with the Middle Ages: reading, discussing, analyzing, playing games, writing blogs, answering questions, doing projects. You will be divided into four groups:
The Germans
The Franks
The Anglo-Saxons
The Vikings
I will let you choose you group as long as the groups are even (2.5 members per group - smile). We will beginning with the Germans (after we review your Test/Quiz on Rome). Make-up TESTS on Rome will be on Thursday.
Before we start, what were the Middle Ages about? What happened during them? Did anything important happen during this time? If so, what?
In groups, read chapter 17 section 1 and answer the following questions:
1) Describe the village life of the early Germans.
2) What did the Germans grow?
3) What were the Germans view of hospitality?
4) How were the German tribes organized?
5) Who was Theodoric the Great?
6) Who was Woden? Thor?
7) What was Valhalla?
8) Discuss blood fueds, oath-helpers and wergeld.
9) How did the Germans' love of battle and laws influence their society?
